I’m Thankful for Thanksgiving!

This week, I’m in the throes of being thankful to have so much family visiting! I love Thanksgiving and the reminder everyone gets to have an attitude of gratitude. Thanksgiving is special because the spirit of it doesn’t get lost in gift-giving (and gift-getting), and we aren’t seeking a magnificent fireworks show or other entertainment. Thanksgiving is simply about people who love each other coming together to break bread, just like Jesus did with his own friends.

Since my house is full of company, I’m skipping my regular blog this week. Instead, I want to share my thankful list (in no particular order). I pray you all are having a blessed Thanksgiving. Comment below with what you’re most thankful for this year!

  1. Divine Mercy - God keeps forgiving me no matter how many times I mess up.

  2. My family - so many people who love me for who I am.

  3. Adventures with the Saints - I love that I’m an author, especially when a kid tells me she likes my books!

  4. Being a cradle Catholic - I didn’t appreciate it growing up, but it’s such a gift to have known Christ since my infancy.

  5. My husband’s job - and the current financial security that comes with it.

  6. My health and the health of my loved ones - such a gift.

  7. My friends - women God has brought into my life who have helped me on my spiritual journey.

  8. That I like my husband, not just love him - because love is a choice (not an emotion), so I get to choose to love him, and I do. But more than that, I like him. So much.

  9. Fr. Mike Schmitz - he has catechized me tremendously over the last few years with Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year.

  10. For you - thank you for reading and supporting and praying and loving me as I try to pursue whatever it is that God’s calling me to today. I love you (‘cause I get to choose to do that too).
